The Flat Classroom – Part 1

 Based on the book by Thomas Freidman, The World is Flat, this course attempts to show the participants why it is important to reach out to the world.  This course is designed for the teacher or administrator who wants to extend their classroom or school to the global community.  Utilizing Atomic Learning’s Seven Steps to a Flat Classroom we will begin to see how connect yourself and your students to the global community.  This course is Part 1 of 3.  Topics include: a) What is a flat classroom; b) Connecting yourself to the global community; c) connection students to the global community; d) creating and managing global projects for Elementary, Middle, and High School.

Facilitator Bio

Renee Jesness has worked as a media specialist in K-12 and been coordinator of online learning.  Currently she is working in IT Services as a teacher on special assignment.  Her focus is in working with media specialists across the district and in creating online professional development opportunities for staff in Minneapolis Public Schools.
