Artful planning is a process that takes time. Artists intuitively understand that a lot of planning needs to go into something substantial. Teachers know the value of having plenty of time to plan and prepare their lessons. Planning backwards using the Artful Planner is an approach that honors both the artistic process and the inquiry process.

—Planning a collaboration is a process that has many entry points. Some arts partner teams are longtime collaborators, others are working together for the first time. The Artful Planner is designed to be flexible enough to accommodate all levels of experience.

—There are many different places to start on the continuum of artist and teacher collaborations—from a performance or exhibit to more developed collaborations across the curriculum.
